Leaking sewer

To all of King George Playing Fields users in Farnborough, we would like to warn you that there has been a sewage leak at the back of the pavilion.

The area to be fenced off and signs put up warning people and dog walkers to avoid the area.

The leak has been traced back to be from Knellwood War Memorial Home, Canterbury Road. The contractors have been arranged to clear the blockage.

So please avoid this area. Will keep you posted on any developments.

Keep your eyes open for a residents’ survey which will be coming out, probably in the new year seeking your views on the civic quarter.  There will be public displays and a mainly online survey.

This is very important.  It is your opportunity to give your views on what you think should be in this critical development.  Obviously we won’t be able to do everything that’s suggested, but at least we can hear what you want, and do our best to produce something which is truly for the community; which provides a great centre; and is a development of which Farnborough can be proud.

Don’t miss your chance!

For those of you who are concerned about a move of the Milestone surgery, it is certainly not going to happen in the near future. We are still trying to ensure that whatever happens it will be in your best interests, including an improved bus service if and when needed.

Last Saturday we had our surgery. Thank you to those who came to see us. We will be doing our usual door knocking in Reading Road on the 10th November then back to our surgery on the following Saturday. Looking forward to speak to some of you.

Hatfield Gardens Ward visit

Today we had great time meeting and talking to the residents of Hatfield Gardens during our ward visit. We will now be working on some of the issues that were mentioned by some of the residents. It was good to see you and Thank you all for your time!

Knellwood councillors grant

As your councillors, we have an allowance to be made  available to charities and/or small organisations needing funds for an event, equipment or some other purpose.

If you believe your organisation could use such funds, do let one of us know. We may be able to help.

I agree with Mara.  It was the first ward walk for many years in Knellwood. We called on 20 surprised residents in Rectory Road - surprised because it isn't election time!
It was really great to be able to talk with people without any election pressures, and we found a few issues, even from these 20 houses, which concern them.
We will be calling on other areas over the next few months - be prepared!

Ward Visits

We had absolutely great time talking to our residents during our ward visit last Thursday. Thank you for your time to those who were able to spare a minute talking to us and apologies to those we’ve missed. We left a card for you through your letter box. We will be visiting road by road throughout the year. Already looking forward to the next visit.

Milestone Surgery and The Community Centre



1. Many of you in Knellwood are becoming concerned about several issues at the moment so I just want to update you on a couple of them here.

Milestone Surgery: This surgery, used by a very significant number of residents in this ward, has issued notices to its patients, of its intended move to the proposed new Health Centre at Southwood.

Mara and I propose to visit the practice manager very shortly to discuss what we consider to be an ill-considered move. Apart from the fact that the deal to acquire the property in Southwood has not even happened yet, for a variety of reasons, many of you will find it difficult to get to the new Centre, especially without your own transport. The bus service is presently inadequate.

There's no doubt the surgery is almost fully subscribed, has poor parking, and is a rather difficult location to access on the A325.

I understand that the Salisbury Road practice is not intending to relocate.

I hope to update you very soon.

2. The Farnborough Community Centre:
For various reasons, loss of its principal volunteer organiser, its position within the new proposed Civic Quarter, and its unsuitability to meet all needs, it is proposed to close the Centre in due course. The target date is realistically in the Spring next year.

From what I hear, however, various groups do not know what is going on, and even whether they will be able to continue.

This is not satisfactory, and I am meeting this Thursday, to obtain details and assurances on the way forward. The process will take a little while, but I will do all I can to ensure that no-one loses out.

July cllr’s surgery at The Swan.

Graffiti is anti-social. Please do let us know if you find any and we will get it cleaned off.

Early bin collection Alert!!!

Residents living on the following roads - please be aware of the slight changes due to the Airshow. Make sure your bins are out early.

On Friday 20 July, collections will start at 5am in the following roads:

• All North Camp roads south of, and including, Reading Road
• Farnborough Road from the Queens Hotel to the council offices
• Queensgate
• Maitland Road

Dog is anti-social please clean up after you dogs. Report any dog owners you see not clearing after their pets. This have now been reported to the dog wardeners. Anyone caught without picking up their dog mess will be fined.

Grass cutting

Grass cutting has already started across our ward. Please do let us know if any area is missed. Overgrown hedges and trees are already on the to do list and again let us know of any issues we will get them sorted.

Our first Ward surgery

We were really happy that we were able to assist our ward resident who came to our first ward surgery on Saturday. We look forward to seeing more residence visiting us next month at The Swan. Come and see us. Its a drop in surgery and you are all welcome.

Some residents of Knellwood have asked me if we can have more street bins around Ashdown Avenue. I have now made a request for the bins. I will inform you when they will be delivered.

Abbey Way

Saturday 2/6/18 - have visited the residents of this road. Have taken some photos. Huge parking problems there. Paul Taylor and I have met up with officers regarding the issue. We are currently working on the case to try and find solutions.

I spent my afternoon at King George the fifth playground with my children. I was chatting with other users and its amazing that our playground attracts people from Ash, Camberley etc. Its one of those moments that makes you feel very proud of what we have in our town. We need more play areas like King George the Fifth.

I also met a girl who was practicing and improving her football skills on her own. As i’m very keen in sporting activities, I approached her and asked what time their game was due to start and how big her team was? She said to me “ l’m just practicing on my own so that i can be better’. I was deeply touched by that. We need more youngerster to spend more time outside in the playground away from electronic gadgets.

What an amazing turnout. I got to meet a number of organisations raising funds for worthy charities in Knellwood.

First of all, I would like to extend a personal thank you to those who voted for me in the recent election, and for doing so with such a big majority to represent Knellwood Ward. As the first female Knellwood Ward councillor since 1998 and probably the first black African to be elected in the borough, I am truly honoured and proud with this achievement.

Thank you to those of you who took time to talk to me when I visited you during the election campaign period. I have listened to all your comments and have noted down your concerns. Myself and the other 2 councillors Paul Taylor and Roland Dibbs will now start working for you.

Apologies to those of  you who missed me during my visits; also to those I was unable to visit. You were not forgotten. Due to limited time and resources, we were unable to visit every house in the ward before the elections but we will be doing ward visits throughout the year.

We will also be running Councillors' Surgeries on the 3rd Saturday of each month at The Swan Inn on A325 from 11am til 1pm starting this June. Please come and see us there.
